Our Progress in Human Rights
Global Commission on HIV and the Law:
ABDGN has the opportunity to submit position papers to the Global Commission on HIV and the Law High Income Country Dialogue, and was one of the submissions selected to present at the in-person meeting held in California. This provided a global platform for ABDGN to advocate for refugees, deportees and asylum seekers in the context of HIV treatment and care and legal frameworks that can limit access to health.
International Organization for Migration (IOM):
ABDGN was offered to have official observer status with IOM, one of the few HIV/AIDS civil society networks to achieve this level of partnership with IOM. This has presented numerous opportunities for collaboration and information sharing to provide ABDGN with a human rights platform to advocate for migrant health rights. Further, as migration and health are often not integrated policies, this partnership with IOM has been mutually beneficial for cross-sector collaborations.
